Notes:
|
Additonal notes: Speaks and reads english. is very well versed in the languages of the pacific rim.
Equipment: Rarely carries any sort of weaponry.
Appearance/Clothing Tendencies: Wears loose clothing for movement. Prefers traditional garb over modern clothing.
House, Circle, Influence: The asterisked backgrounds above are indicators of friends and family back in China. Most of whom are Shaolin Monks. Liu's Nemesis has been left intentionally vague. His Cipher score comes from the fact that he has virtually no paper trail from his life and his resources come from a small salary he draws from his master.
What has gone Before: Liu was a Shaolin Monk. A learned man and mendicant wanderer. His life was saved by a foreigner. By tradition, When a life is saved, it belongs to the man who saved it.
Does this seem intentionally vague? that's because it is. Liu To Fan is a Drop-In for use with A! He is the Quintessential oriental manservant. The details of his past are left mostly up to you.
Story Uses:
Cato to your Green Hornet: Naturally, This option means that Mr. Liu will be a regular part of A! stories as he goes around with the heroes, Fighting alongside them, Healing their injuries with his strange eastern medicine and picking up after them at the mansion.
Mystery Ally: The Gm can also have the option of allowing the players to have access to an Ally of this sort, But beyond what they know of their shared history, Fan doesn't talk about himself...At all. Therefore, it can be more than surprising when he breaks out the martial arts or his Acupuncture needles or his limited Occult expertise.
The Native Guide: Stories that are set in Asia will find Fan serving not only as the trusted valet and general factotum but also as an interpreter and native guide. The only problem is that he will want stay if he can manage it. Only the bonds of Honor and their treatment of him hold him to the players.
The Target: Have an Oriental Mastermind you'd like to throw at your players but don't have an easy in? Well, now you do. Either, Fan has tangled with a certain bad person and now he's being hunted for it. or maybe he is the brother or childhood friend of some evil fiend. In any case, The players will wonder why they are being harassed since Fan doesn't exactly volunteer the fact that the mastermind is after him.
The Plant: Suppose that the situation that Fan was rescued from was a carefully scripted gambit. Ubiquitous Dragon needs spies everywhere and the more he can infiltrate into America, the better he likes it. Nominally, Liu serves his master with every bit of ability he can master but keeps his eyes open for information of use to his true master. Does Fan serve the wicked Dragon out of his own black heart or is he trying to win the freedom of his kidnapped family? This is of course up to you. The key to this option is that Fan is very subtle and it will take a long time before he is caught. Since Liu To Fan is built as a nearly beginning level character level, he could even be played this way by a player character.
